Six scenes that show how close Damon and Elena are. Elena’s “Where were you Damon?” in 3x05 is probably one of my top 5 DE scenes by now. Why? Because it was so sincere, honest and simple question, and she showed with 4 words how much she needs him. In that moment she doesn’t think anyone else would have been able to save her, but him, her eternal savior. The lovely parallel from 3x10 and 4x06 scenes. Again, she admits that he saves the day, all over again. The part I choose from 3x19 is probably the most underrated DE scene.  The scene was absolutely great. It’s not about the way Damon says “It wasn’t about you” after that. It’s not about Elena’s “Why don”t you let people see the good in you?”. Because she does see that, and she is very aware how much he can be noble. It’s about the level of closeness their friendship has reached in season 3. They have seen each other at their best and at their worst. Elena asks how she doesn’t know about the way he dealt with Rose’s death because they share things, they are best friends, because she was there with him in his vulnerable state. For the last, he said he will always choose her, he said he will never leave her and he kept his promise. She knows and remembers that, she is thankful for every single time he saved her, was there for her, no matter how many times she broke his heart and she used that as a reason why she is falling in love with him, she used it as a reason to defend him in front of her friends.
