Chuck and Blair 

If I were to start this essay/rant saying I’m disappointed with Gossip Girl it would be a very huge understatement. I haven’t even watched the episode let alone ten minutes of it and I already know it wasn’t good. Honestly it makes me aggravated so much to the point of which I want to tear my own hair out how much the writers are screwing over Chuck and Blair and their fans. I’m lost as to how I am to write my thoughts in a coherent way at the moment because I’m just so annoyed. 

So on my dash I’ve seen a number of my followers reblogging a post regarding how DB fans continue to watch the show after five season of Chair yet after ONE kiss we as fans stop watching. HA is all I can say because that is totally not the right information. First they’ve had far more than one kiss, otherwise their fans must be really good at maniping scenes of say three or more kisses. I have loathed GG as a show since the writers started to screw CB fans over in the latter half of season 3. My love for the show grew back again during the first two episodes of season 4 however that love slowly died as the season progressed. I’ve learnt especially with Gossip Girl that you can still hate a show and love your OTP. I stopped watching the whole show at the end of last season and majorly gave up on the show after 5x10.

Near the beginning of the season whilst discussing with some fans about GG I said that this season would be exactly like last season just 10x worse and I’ve not been proved wrong. The main reason why I stopped watching at the end of season 4 was because of the SL that was added. Right from the start I had a fear about this baby storyline, and it saddened me when it actually happened. At about 3 in the morning I was happy for the length of say 2 minutes and then I grew furious. Do you know why? Because I knew the writers would make Blair lose her baby (I already knew it was her from the beginning) thus I realised the writers wouldn’t handle it in the right way. Just as I’ve pointed out many a time before what was the need to make Blair have a baby in the first place? Oh that’s right drama for dramas sake.   We are what four five episodes on now since the crash and to me it seemed as though she never had a baby. The writers didn’t write the storyline properly and they definitely didn’t handle or finish the story in the right way.

So now onto what’s happening on Gossip Girl at the moment. Oh gosh I can’t help but laugh GG plots and storylines are far surpassing the point of boredom. I’m not too bothered with what’s happening (only when people don’t tag their posts and I have to see them). There’s a continuous theme throughout these past five seasons with the writers. Give CB fans a Chuck and Blair overload in the first half of the season, then do something to break them apart then near the end part of the season meaning the last two three episodes bring them back together again. And there is always a kissing scene between them as well. Through interviews I can tell Ed is feeling the same way as CB fans, IMO he’s tired of the back and forth with the couple and the continuous drama. I can’t comprehend what the continuous drama is a means for, what is the end for the writers? Why make CB converse all these words of love to each other only for their actions to contradict what they’re saying?

So we don’t need to worry too much about not having much CB at the moment. Remember what JS said everyone on the show are pawns bar Chuck Blair and Serena. The main story will always be Chuck and Blair no matter what happens in the middle of the season at the end of the day they always find their way back. I’m just worried that if this is the last season of GG (seriously can’t endure another one) then we’ll have a quick reunion for them and this isn’t what I want. The episodes which have the highest ratings on GG have not been a surprise seeing as they were mainly Chuck and Blair filled.  Just to reiterate Chuck and Blair will ALWAYS be the story.

The writers need to work out who they’re trying to please. They can’t ‘placate’ one fandom then the next. Last season I did enjoy some of the CB scenes we got however I didn’t like the way it was spread out. 4.02 – 4.09 we got CB scenes then we didn’t get any good CB scenes until 4.22. /shrugs I can see this season being the same however like I said earlier it’s going to be worse.

One thing that makes me fill with rage on a daily basis is seeing why other fans think CBers ship Chuck and Blair. For me, I definitely don’t ship them because they’re ‘epic endgame or just because they have ‘hot’ scenes. No no no. One concept I hate is the term endgame and that’s why I hardly ever use it, and where shipping wars evolve from. I made Chuck and Blair my OTP and continue to love them more and more each day is because what they’ve been through together. No matter what’s said they have been with each other, in each other’s lives and helped each other through some of the most significant periods in one another’s life. They’ve been each other’s emotional pillars, they’ve carried each other through some of the hardest points in their lives, and having the love of their significant other has kept them alive. Scenes for instance 1.08 1.18 2.13 2.14 4.02 3.12 5.06 4.22 5.09 5.10 have included some of my favourite episode because of how much they’ve been through together and these are just a small number of episodes which highlight the immensity of Chuck and Blair’s love. ‘I know you better than I know myself’ ‘It’s stupid for you to want her to be anything other than who she is’ ‘I know every inch of his soul’ They understand each other better than anyone ever could. They love the dark and sad parts but also the light and happy parts. They don’t judge each other or only choose what they want to see in the other person; they love every part of them wholeheartedly.  

We as a fandom just keep our love for Chuck and Blair alive and not care about the continuous ways the writers try and fail to make CB fans give up. I’d love to join in the trending CB on twitter however I just can’t stay up for episodes where we only get CB scenes that are seconds long. Keep on spreading love through tumblr, twitter, making gifs and graphics, making fanvids writing fanfics ect. IN THE FACE OF TRUE LOVE YOU DON’T JUST GIVE UP EVEN WHEN THE WRITERS ARE TRYING TO SCREW WITH YOUR OTP.
